Heat Design Challenge Presentations are done! Testing will be taking place after school.
All Space, Heat, and Ecosystems Unit Tests (all 4 parts) have been returned and have been sent home.
Bowling permission forms are now overdue and need to be in tomorrow so the groups and shoe sizes can be sent in to the alley. We can still use some parent chaperones for my class (bowling optional).
New Units:
Ecosystems: (8L and 8M) – The unit has started and homework will be coming soon…
Pure Substances: (7M, 7/8, and 6/7) – Mr. Ritchie’s and Mrs. McNaught’s class have page 13 # 1 to 6 for homework. Miss MacKenzie’s class needs to memorize the three statements of the Particle Theory of Matter. Candy Bar classification assignment is due first class next week.
Diversity: (Miss MacKenzie’s grade 6’s) – Make sure all the headings and details are filled out on the handout of the five kingdoms and the animal kingdom subgroups
History: Loyalist History Cards are due – today for 8L, tomorrow for 8M, and Friday for 7M and 7/8.

Pure Substances and Mixtures Unit has now begun for Mr. Ritchie’s and Mrs. McNaught’s classes – candy classification assignment due next Monday, February 9th. Miss MacKenzie’s grade 7’s start the unit tomorrow.
Diversity (Miss MacKenzie’s 6’s) – back to this unit tomorrow.
History – The jigsaw on Simcoe’s Policies is being completed in class – make sure you have all the notes from the chart papers posted on the chalkboard as the six sections are being taken up.
Art – 7M’s – A double period on Thursday for the lighthouse project.
Art – 8L’s – Work continues on your final project – remember to use all of the different aspects that have been done this year – perspective, shading, colour, depth, inking.

GRAD PHOTOS TOMORROW!!! White shirts with colours and dark ties for the boys, white blouses for the girls. Composite orders are also due ($25).
The Second Annual Winter Blues Buster Bowling Trip is Friday, Feb. 6 – $10 for transportation, 2 games, shoes and a KAPOW! pop – who could ask for a better way to shake off the winter blues. Chaperones needed – $5 if they want to bowl. Permission forms are due by next Tuesday please.
Heat Design Challenge is due Monday.
Unit tests are nearing completion – new units coming soon!
History – Loyalist History Cards (think of it like an educational hockey card) are due next week: Wednesday for 8L, Thursday for 7M and 8M, and Friday for 7/8’s.
Art – Watercolurs are continuing with 7M, final perspective pieces for 8L have been started and are beginning to look very good.
Special School Bonus: For all their hard work on the science test, all students do not have to come to school this Friday.

Heat: We are taking up the unit review this week. Up to # 25 has been done. Still to come # 26, 27, 28ab, 29, 32 to 43, and 47. Make sure they are done – complete sentences with reasoning – it makes it a lot easier to add when something is already on the page. Design Challenge Projects due two weeks from today (Feb. 2).
Ecosystems: For 7M amd 7/8’s: Unit Review up to #12 has been taken up. Questions up to #19 have been assigned. The final set of questions are coming tomorrow.
Ecosystems: For 6/7: We will be taking up #1 to 12 tomorrow and the final set of questions will be assigned in class on Wednesday.

Kapow Pops (fundraiser) are now on sale after school in room 18 for $1 each – 12 flavours – a reminder they are not to be eaten during class time or on the yard and wrappers go in garbage cans (the ground is not a giant garbage can).
